PROJECT DESCRIPTION
ADCO were contracted to fit-out Clean Room Suites 2 and 4 in Pfizer's main production facility in Ireland.
Challenges Faced
- The project was carried out under an intense programme of works with short lead-in time for deliverables.
- Limited detail on design required a "hands on approach" to site-specific items, including hand dig around specific areas where existing live services were potentially laid.
- Double shift work was required to micromanage the programme of works alongside the M&E subcontractors to ensure the project completion date was achieved.
- Daily work permits and SPAs were required and daily white board progress review meetings held to maintain tight control.
- Because the building was occupied, there was limited access within the existing suites for the construction and installation of underground services. ADCO overcame this problem by constructing temporary clean room walls to isolate work from the production areas.
Technologies
- Stud / dry lined clean room and firewalls up to 7 metres were installed as part of the upgrade.
- The project required the installation of clean room doors to include interlock systems, as well as clean room floor and ceiling finishes.
- Complete internal civil services were implemented, including steel gantries, concrete bunds, underground double contained stainless steel drainage lines and in-fills to 1st and 2nd floor concrete slabs.
- Works included complete M&E builder's work openings installation from plant rooms to process lines out onto the main roof structure.
Successes
- Fast track programme was successfully implemented and delivered by ADCO management on site. The project was completed with no reportable accidents, on time and within budget.
- The high standard of finish exceeded the client's expectations and complete works met their objectives.
