PROJECT DESCRIPTION
ADCO were contracted to carry out works to the Warehouse Extension, the upgrade of a waste laydown area and construct a new Dock Leveller for Merck Sharp & Dohme in Ballydine, Clonmel. Works included the installation of new underground double contained drainage, structural steelwork including cladding, concrete works including floor slabs and concrete paving which included stainless steel drainage channels.
Challenges Faced
- Works took place around existing live services around the existing sprinkler warehouse area.
- Any works carried out in existing warehouse needed tight supervision with hot works permit in place due to highly flammable liquids stored in warehouse.
- Co-ordination with the on-site Mechanical & Electrical subcontractors.
- A substantial amount of rock had to be broken for the construction of the Dock Leveller & Drainage lines.
Innovations
- An extensive underground survey of existing services was carried out by specialist sub-contractor.
- An anti-static Trazcon floor was installed in the Warehouse Extension.
Successes
- Project was completed with no reportable accidents, on time and within budget.
- Despite some design changes of works, ADCO achieved all targets set.
- The ADCO team worked closely with Jacobs to ensure the project objectives were achieved.
